Topic: XYZ Printing da Vinci Open Tag Firmware Released!

I'm not sure if this has already been posted, but I contacted support last week and they sent me a PDF providing instructions on how to upgrade the firmware of my Da Vinci Mini w+ so that it is now Open Tag and supports third-party filament.

I have followed this process and can confirm that my Da Vinci Mini w+ is now on firmware 3.2.7 and prints without a NFC tag present.

Hi! This post will make a bunch of people happy no doubt. Thank you for sharing this!

I gave up on my mini w+ and ended up buying a different printer. Had a look at the instructions and basically all I had to do was download the beta version of the XYZ printing software, connect my printer to my machine, if prompt me for a firmware upgrade to the v3 firmware. Did that and now the filament tag function is removed! Did a test print with a 3rd party PLA and works without issue.

I at least have a spare printer now that is no longer a door stopper big_smile

OMFG Just as i gave up you made this post.
I just decide to look one more time a few weeks later and like a dream come true you posted the exact thing i had been looking for?
An actual xyz solution?
I am so shocked i yelled YEEESSSSS out loud lol i never thought my printer would move again but it works for my Nano.

Got my da Vinci Jr. 1.0 open tag using this above topic.  There is no way to use XYZware Pro beta.  I can use XYZ Print R2 though, so I'm good to go.  Since I have never used XYZware non pro, what am I missing?

If I'm reading this correctly, this requires Open Smart Tag, which cost close to $100. Is that accurate?? Or It would work without a need for any tag

thanks thanks thanks !!! I was spending so much time with my android and nfc tool and it was not working. I find your link and it works perfectly. It doesn't need any nfc or thing to buy it's pure software and firmware update.

the thing that get me crzay is that you "just" ask the support for this !!!

Thanks for the tutorial! Would anyone happen to have the 2.5.1 firmware for da vinci jr 1.0? This seems to be required before upgrading to 3.2.7. I am using this tool to flash the firmware, but only up to 2.4.9 is available: https://www.soliforum.com/topic/17845/d … rmininano/

I am not a tech-type, but rather a "tech-wanna be"...I have a da Vinci mini w+ that I obtained recently (with intentions of trying to get it up and running).  I want to be able to upgrade to the newest version (it is on version 1.2.6 and I want to upgrade to 3.2.7),  Based on a "check" I did using a pdf file with instructions, my version of software is = p:dvlmw0c010" (mini w+ (Telit)).  I have no idea what this means...


when I try to upgrade, the "upgrade now" button is grayed out.  It darkens when I am prompted to enter a "XYZPrinting Account email and password" on XYZPrint Beta.  I have NO idea what to enter - I tried my wifi, the SN of the printer, etc.  I can't get to a point where I can upgrade... Hoping someone may be able to help?  Thanks!!!

Has anyone tried this for a 1.1?
There is an extra steep for them but the files required are password protected. Has any got the password or the unlocked files?

what are all the files in this drive? i am looking for the open filament file for the da vinci 2.0 jr mix and i can see on the link you provided that there are 2 folders to download for a jr mix (?).
Is this the open filament file for my jr 2.0 mix printer?

EDIT: searching some more a bit maybe this model already accepts alternative branded filament. I found a post that says the professional version is the only model that is not limited to XYZ filament. Can anyone confirm?


If i have a XZY Professional 1.0 ( da Vinci 1.0 Professional) looking the OP, so i use the link called " da Vinci 1.0"?

The printer visually displayed in that guide is not the model I have.

Below is a picture of the one I'm dealing with.  Software ver 1.4.2

I work IT for a school district and I'm trying to get all of my ducks in a row before attempting to flash these, as the teacher in that area purchased a good amount of filament that was not XYZ branded.

I have a 2.0 duo but when I install this software it still asks for nfc chip or says no cartridge present. Am I missing something?

The firmware update you want for your (and mine) Jr 2.0 mix printer is here  tinyurl.com/mrjr20mix

Steps to install:

1: download all the files into single folder
2: have your printer connected via USB and know your port (XYZware tells you this in the printer monitor)
3: do not have XYZware running while performing this operation
4: start JuniorMix_3.1.0.exe
5: wait for it, it looks shady and is slow but it worked for me.
6:select the port, and select connect, do not click twice or elsewhere, this program
7: once printer is detected, press update.
8: pray to all the gods and do not unplug the printer
9: once done, printer restarts
10: that's it, enjoy your "335 m" of fillament that never decreases

I have the davinci mini w and i followed the PDF and it corrupt my SN after running the PrinterSNUpdateTool.exe
I double checked that the original printer SN was correct before running it, and now my printer's SN is being detected as 3FM1JPÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ.E
If anyone knows a fix, PLEASE HELP!!

(Edit: the SNUpdateApply.exe will not allow me to create a new PrinterSNUpdateTool when i input the new corrupt SN as it is over the 18 character limit.)

Can anyone please help! I dont have a XYZ ID and trying to upgrade the firmware of a XYZ Jr1 to the Open Filament.

I have dowloaded and installed the XYZprint R2 driver but the upgrade button is greyed out.

am i missing something here
