Using the FilaWinder/Extruding decent Filament

So, I've gotten my Filastruder working well, despite some difficulty. However, i'm entirely stumped as to how to get it actually extruding onto a reel, or even onto the floor without kinks. I've tried numerous things, trying to plastic weld a short length of decent filament to the new extrusion from the extruder, waiting for it to cool, and then threading it through the FilaWinder, and of course just trying to get it through the tubing. No matter what I do, the filament breaks, or gets kinked, or the welding point is too thick to go through the tubing. Am I missing something? Could anyone help?
