Topic: augers and motor shaft alignment

I started the assembly of my filastruder.  Got to the point of mounting the augers and front plate. The augers and motor shaft do not line up.  Just wondering if anyone else experienced this? I emailed filastruder already.

I had the same problem with mine. I very carefully bent the pipe straight but make sure that you don't damage it, especially in the area of the cutout.

Re: augers and motor shaft alignment

You should not have to bend anything.  You loosen the 4 bolts that hold the barrel to the chassis, set it on its back (motor) to take gravity out of the equation, then move it as needed to make the augur and motor line up.  There is some play in the holes of the flange and acrylic piece to allow you to line things up, then retighten before setting it back horizontal.

Re: augers and motor shaft alignment

I had the same issue, since I work part time at ACE hardware I checked all the 1/2 pipe flanges they had in stock and all of them had tapped holes that were not perpendicular to the back of the flange, all were off, some quite a bit.
I added some thin shim stock between the flange and frame to help correct the shaft alignment.

Yes, I had the same problem. Just like azheninger said, after the pipe installed to the flange, it was not perpendicular to the back of the flange.  I had to shim my flange to get my auger to line up to the motor shaft.
