Topic: Feeder tube keeps popping out

Okay, let me see if I can describe this right...

At the top of the machine where the filament feeder wheel housing is, there is a replaceable pressure fitting that holds the white feeder tube in place. About a week after I got the machine, I had to replace this fitting with one of the 2 extras I got with the machine. (That was a fun adventure figuring out how to get to the dang thing...) But, now, I'm having the same problem...

I thought it was a clogged head, so I removed and cleaned that both with acetone and a little heat. But after starting a test print, the white feeder tube pushed out again and the retention ring came loose.

What could be causing this? I'm really at a loss at the moment. I though also it might be the heat setting, but isn't that preset in the chip programming with a proprietary cartridge?

Don't know if you already had an answer, but I respond anyway.
The press fittings (or pneumatic press fittings, as they call them originally) that XYZPrinting supplies are really not that good. You can buy much better ones if you know how to search for them.

Give this line a go in Google, and you will have succes:
pneumatic press fitting 4mm with 5mm thread

Make very sure you have the ones with 5mm thread, because mostly you will find them with 6mm thread and they simply don't fit without any modifications. There is a brand that has a blue retention ring, this is a really good press fitting.

Any idea if the Jr. uses the same fitting? Cause I noticed one of my fittings is missing teeth and my prints have not been quite right since.

I recently had this same problem with my Jr hardware. And yes, it users the same 4mm tube/5mm thread discussed above.

I unscrewed my push fitting to find that only two metal teeth were left inside it, and it wouldn't hold the tube at all.

I have new ones on order but they won't be here for another week, so the solution I found elsewhere in forums that's working for me is to thread an M4 nut directly onto the tube, then attach it with another M4 inside the extruder housing.

This is not a very easy process because of how the housing is constructed. Thread the first nut pretty far onto the tube, then put the second nut inside the holder on the housing. Remove the bowden tube from the hotend push fitting and turn the tube to screw it in. Once it's mostly tight, grab some needle nose pliers and grab the top nut to tighten it down more.

It does not have to be really tight, but you need to make sure there's no play in the tube so it can't move up and down during retraction.

I had this on third party filament when I changed over from the supplied cartridge. Two things seemed to sort it. One was raising the nozzle temperature the other was turning the extrusion multiplier from 0.90 to 0.80. If the melted filament cannot get out of the nozzle fast enough you end up with a backlog. Try this first if not, the fittings do fail but often because of this.

I know this is an old thread but does anyone have a link to pneumatic press fittings that they know work?

I have the same issue with my da vinci mini where the pneumatic fitting pops out. It appears that the teeth inside have come out and so the tube isn't held in.

I've purchased a few types from various sources but the thread on the nut part always seems to be either just too short, or the nut part (where the spanner would attach) is too deep and so stops the unit fitting in to the hole in the feeder unit.

If someone could give me a lead on ones they know work then that would be great.
