Topic: Phenolic bed for printing nylon

I now have phenolic beds, the material of choice for printing nylon.  Each piece is 6mm thick and can be cut to any size.

150x150mm to suit SD2 in stock ready to ship.

Re: Phenolic bed for printing nylon

large bed (150x150) is $20 AUD, cool so far...

shipping to the UK $144

though apparently if I spend $100 I could get free shipping?

of course, if I add a few rolls of filament to my cart then shipping suddenly becomes $224 dollars. so if I spend over $100 dollars I don't qualify for free shipping? even though I was told I would, (after I'd put my address details in!)

Ok, I guess that the print bed could qualify for free shipping, but heavy filament might not. -that's fair

what if I reach my $100 target by buying 5 print beds?

now weirdly, I don't qualify for free shipping, 5 x $20 print beds takes me to the $100 mark where I should have got free shipping, but now the shipping says $356 dollars?

Really?? it's more expensive to ship 5 plastic squares than it is to ship a plastic square and 3 rolls of filament??
that's mad!

though congrats on getting international shipping options for simple items that are even more ludicrous than solidoodles $45 shipping charge for small items!

Hi Danny,

I rely on online shipping quotes, which have occasionally gone wrong. I would say in this case terribly wrong!

Actually I just looked and found I accidentally put the quantity in stock in the weight column!! Oops. Thanks for pointing this out. Explains the ridiculous pricing.....

The correct shipping price is $17.20 to the UK. I'd need to weigh the plates to know for sure, but I would imagine you could get 2 shipped for that price.

BTW the free shipping is only for domestic sales.

Cheers

Hi Danny,

Thanks for the order. I'll ship it out tomorrow for you. I think you will be very happy with how well nylon sticks to this stuff.

Thanks again

From a video I just saw on YouTube where someone was using that bed to print nylon on it sticks for sure, almost too well.

Yes sometimes it can stick too well. Hitting the part with cold compressed air seems to be one solution. I was thinking of trying some "freeze spray", or even just compressed air in a can. The change in temp is enough to crack the part right off, so I am told.
