Topic: G-code by KISSlicer -> lag in 3D View after import in Repetier

Wonder if anyone else has seen this pattern:

Try Pronterface/Skeinforge. Holy crap slow. Discover Repetier/Slic3r. Pretty nice! Make some prints, utter lots of swear words trying to get the fucking first layer to stick. Change some settings in Slic3r, it won't slice anything anymore. Try out KISSlicer to make G-code for use in Repetier. After opening said G-code in Repetier, Repetier while using 3D view in the G-code tab becomes extremely bogged down, preventing use of the app in general. Temperatures don't update, app basically taking 90 seconds to generate one frame of animation.

Finally managed to switch to the temp chart view, which freed up the app for printing. Printed my best part yet, first one I'd call acceptable.

So, the question is, why would different sources of G-code cause a massively slow 3D view in Repetier? Has anyone else reproduced this?

It seems like the reduced-framerate feature is not being triggered. I've seen it work before. My computer is old with poor 3D hardware acceleration, I am considering switching boxes.

you can use the 2 buttons (hide filament and hide travel) top of the screen....

even with a good computer rig, it's better to shutdow this real time preview to prevent "pause" when printing just because the software is refreshing the screen.

Will give that a shot, thank you.

Was planning on monitoring progress by webcam anyway once I have settings ironed out.

beware of webcam monitoring... if you computer is really old, controlling you usb printer AND streaming a usb webcam can be too cpu/usb intensive..

I use an IP cam to  monitor my SD3 progress. It works off the router not pc

SD3, E3D hotend, linear bearing on x/y axis',pillow block bearing on y conneting rod, ball bearngs on front y axis, fan on y stepper motor.

Hey, that's a good suggestion, thanks!
