Topic: Problem with feed wheel on 1.0

My wheel that puts pressure on the filiment has wear on it and I was wondering if there is any place to get a replace at. I was also wondering what the correct name for it is.

Thanks you

That's the extruder idler but I've no idea where you could get a replacement unfortunately.
My guess is they're xyz's own part, like most of the 1.0 components.
Mine crapped out a good while ago too and I've since replaced the whole extruder assembly and hotend.

Re: Problem with feed wheel on 1.0

I called XYZ and the told me that they don't sell just that part.  I have to buy a whole assembly for $99.  I thought I seen post before of people using bearing and other stuff to make new ones, but I can't find those post.

Thanks

You could use a bearing if you could find one the same size, groove it, and paint the black and white pattern on the side. The machine needs that pattern as that is how it detects jams. You could even make one with stacked washers. The grooved area could be smaller washers.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

I was using a printed one for a while. You just need a bearing around 5mm and print a wheel (I think it's about 8mm if I remember right) then press the bearing into the printed wheel.
Only trouble is it'll wear after a while but it gets you printing again until you find something better.

Thanks. I'm having trouble finding a bearing the right size.
