Topic: Printing direction of the filament

hello I have to print a little beam with rectangular cross section and I would like to print it using only filament in longitudinal direction, i have yet modified the Fill angle with Slic3r program, but in this way i have a layer longitudinal and one in trasverse direction.
i would like to have all layer deposited in longitudinal direction
thanks in advantage for your help

Re: Printing direction of the filament

not a good idea as it would make the piece weaker. there is a reason for the alternating directions of the layers

SD4 #3 - in the works ~ Folgertech FT-5, rev 1

Re: Printing direction of the filament

i understand that, but mine is not a functional piece, i need that to make same test, and having all the filament in the same direction will help me in having a piece with mechanical characteristics similar to the original PLA

Re: Printing direction of the filament

The slicing software does not allow for such a thing as it undermines the very purpose of the slicing. the only way you could do this is to make your on gcode. You would need to make your model, but make it so it is only one layer thick.

You would then need to manually edit that gcode by copying and pasting that same line after each manually added line to move the z up what ever layer thickness you want. If you can code then might be able to write an app that would do the copy, addition and paste functions for you. But that is the only way you are going to be able to do what you want to.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!
