Topic: Ventilation

So I've been trying to get nylon to work for me, and the smell of nylon makes ABS seem pleasantly mild in comparison.  I have big garage doors, and fans blowing air in, but I was wondering how you guys do your ventilation.  Do you have tubing going to your Filastruder specifically or do you just try to ventilate the whole room?  Do you believe in blowing fresh air in, or do you point your fans outward to exhaust instead?

Re: Ventilation

The most effective removal of  fumes is local exhaust ventilation. IE capture the fumes at the source.
This may be a little more info than you need but here is a link to a DuPont Brochure on the subject.

I'm thinking I just might do that - cut a hole in the side of my garage, put one of those metal shutter exhaust fans in (where the shutters close when it's off), Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Professional-Gra … 00PHLPTVC/ maybe?

Maybe even split the venting off and put my Glowforge there too (that is when -- if -- I ever get it, grumble grumble, third delay, 2.5 years).

Re: Ventilation

Another option is a range hood a used one or a new dent and bent one would serve your purpose nicely. What you show would work fine as well but you still need a hood t direct air flow.

That will need to be ventilated I hope they have a place to put a hose on that .
If they have not there will be lots of smoke detectors going off and maybe a few fires.
Lasers are great but they NEED good outside ventilation.

Yeah, it has an exhaust port.  (kind of funny seeing the photos on their homepage though where it's sitting in the kitchen - really doubt people are going to do that).
