Topic: How do I send Mcode Mac and RH?

Hello I am trying to autotune.
I have my printer connected and works no problem
but trying to send a M303 or any command using the RH print panel and the manual send box does nothing?

I am connected
I have tried making a print job with gcode and just the m303 command and hit run
nothing

am I missing something or do I need to use Pronterface?

What is the full command you are sending?

I use Mac + RH and it has worked for me.

I wrote this guide yesteryday:

Yes i do that. Then what should happen? Should i have extruder and bed heated up before hand?

That is how I have always done it, with it up to temp for at least a minute or two smile

Well I think the most effective way to auto tune is to have the printer in a ready to print state because you will be tuning it for the operating environment that you will be printing in... ie... if you have a case have it up to temp inside the case.

Re: How do I send Mcode Mac and RH?

If you send

M303 S195 C5

hit SEND

The printer with start the auto tune program for 195 degrees C it will do 5 cycles of calibration loop this will take a couple of minutes then at the bottom of your screen in the log window you will see three numbers

PXX.XX

IXX.X

DXXX.XX

I'm going to rerun this before my next print. I will take a video of the process.

Letters have to be in caps.  Lowercase letters will be ignored.

Re: How do I send Mcode Mac and RH?

Just for giggles on my last autotune I loosened the extruder clamp so I could feed some filament through to give it a 'real' experience in autotuning smile then while it was going I pushed filament through at the rate my normal prints use it... so we'll see if it gets more stable on the next print... it's already pretty solid.

@Ian, Nice catch, I didn't think he might be trying lowercase letters for command but that would make it not work smile

Re: How do I send Mcode Mac and RH?

I've updated the wiki page to include that gcode should always be in all caps and to also recommend preheating the extruder to the desired temp to more closely simulate a printing environment.
