Topic: Fried motherboard

As the unit was heating I saw a small flame come from behind the unit and then found this burnt. It still powers on the nozzle just no longer heats. Any idea what it is so I can replace it? It is labeled Q1 .. nothing else in the area looks damaged just covered in smoke.

I have flashed Repetier thats the only mod I have made.

I see evidence of some sort of solder rework near the connector that is plugged in. What was done there? Did you by any chance bypass the zero ohm resistor that acts as a fuse to keep what happened from happening?

it looks like the board can also operate a second extruder, so part q2 is a replica of part q1, so I wonder if it is possible to just remove that part and reinstall it in place of Q1

Not without specialized hot air equipment. This is my profession so i know what i am talking about. That ground slug in the middle of the part requires the board to be heated with an under heater then the part has to be heated with hot air as well to remove it and replace it or move it over.

You may also want to look at the image closer. There is no Q2. The board is the same board that is used in DUO. However all parts not used in the 1.0 are removed and the firmware is different.
