Getting help with Code 0031

Help! I'm slowly working through little issues with my da Vinci 1.0 but this latest one needs the wisdom of others here. In short, I chose to restore the factory firmware 1.1.J for the time being just so I can gain more comfort and experience with using the printer. I was successful last night.

Today, I turned on the printer and went to home the axis when it started stuttering and making a loud sound. It stopped after a moment and the LCD flashed an ominous Code 0031. I've went to XYZ's website and there is so little detail that their support page is worthless for me. I've been reading anything I could find here. I've looked at the belts, I've checked the sensors, but I'm out of ideas.
