Topic: Camera

Who has a camera setup in their Davinci 1.0 and/or Pro or similar Davinci that they really like?  I have tried several mounts/cameras and haven't really totally linked any of them so far, but I really like having a camera so I don't have to constantly go to the basement to check on the printer or I can check on it when I am not home.

Post pictures and link to printed mounts if possible as well as camera and software you are using.

Thanks!

Even with a camera you should not have the printer running unless you or someone with extinguisher experience is within mere feet of it at ALL times. It only takes a few minutes to become a fire an extinguisher will no longer be effective on. I would seriously not use run the printer when away or asleep unless you have absolute faith in all the electronic and heat producing parts and even then I would question.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

I have had some prints that were over 30 hours.

Although caution makes sense, what you prescribe is impossible.

Re: Camera

Yeah, in the middle of a 30+ hour print right now, no way to watch that.

When I first started with my 1st printer I bought one of these (https://www.amazon.com/Sun-System-Flame … tinguisher) but I have never gotten around to installing it.

Re: Camera

Most host and printers out now allow a pause and resume function. Not sure how reliable it is but it was designed to break a long print so you can sleep or leave.

Re: Camera

I use a Zmodo mini wireless ip camera. It has suprisingly good image quality for such a cheap camera.
Here's the mount I designed for it ...... http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1659251

You would have to leave the bed heated for extended periods of time so that the print doesn't pop off.

I think leaving a bed heated for 48 hours to be able to complete a 30 hour print is more dangerous.

In my mind, just like charging lipos, keep the printer in a safe area (mine sites on a granite slab) away from living quarters (mine is in the garage) and protect yourself with a modern home (fire sprinklers in every room).

Any appliance can go up in flames... it is a risk we take in a modern world.

That having been said, the warning that Carl gives is valid, and it printing can be avoided while you are away/asleep, I think that is the safer way to go.

scobo, that mount rocks!

That link in green seems to have auto generated after I posted. Something to do with the advertising on the site picking up on key words. You'll see that the word Amazon is sign posted this way too.
The one you linked to on Amazon looks pretty much the same as mine, although I paid a fair bit less than that.

Re: Camera

I'm running the normal OctoPrint + mjpg_streamer setup with a Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 and a variant on the mount from NickJallday's modpack.
