I will be giving a talk about 3D printers in about a month, and plan on bringing both of my 'doodles. Anyone have experience with transporting them? How much setup should I expect to have to do? Will the bed be OK, or is that likely to need recalibration? Any other tips? I'll just be putting it in the back of my car, so no roughness should be involved.
I've transferred my SD2 4 times to a local meetup and have not needed to recalibrate my bed at all. I would recommend removing backing out the filament and removing the spool (advice I have never followed myself) as I had the PVC spool pipe try and become detached ince.
Just don't take sharp corners or brake quickly. My biggest issue is always leaving some small extra piece (like hairspray) back at the house.
I've moved mine a couple times to show people what it can do, it wouldn't hurt to check the bed level just before starting as mine changes just the slightest bit from getting jostled around... other than that the only other annoyance is the power cord since SD used a brick that takes a IEC320-C5 ! First time I took the SD out I didn't think much of it as I normally take electronics all over the area to demo them to others and power cords are usually everywhere.... well if they are IEC-C13's anyways... lesson learned make sure you have the cord that fits the SD's brick 
I have transported mine in the back of my truck several times, no recalibration needed. Hell, I used a hammer to hit some prints that were stuck really well to the print bed multiple times and it didn't throw my calibration off 
Hmmmm... Maybe I should start using a hammer instead of wrestling with razor blades and scrapers heh heh LOL sounds like it would be quicker for sure
My printer and I have a special bond. I have bled quite a bit of blood while trying to remove prints and cutting myself on the frame.
Blood brothers eh... yeah been there done that on many a machine
If you take packing tape and cover the edges of the frame you won't have to worry about cutting yourself
