Topic: RH on older laptop

A family member gus gave me an older gateway laptop running vista. IIRC  2 gb memory and anther if I use the included thumb drive.
I plan on using it mostly for running  RH cura and sli3r  for the SD4 . will the newest version of  RH work or do i need to download an older version ? If so which one.

Re: RH on older laptop

I don't believe you'll have a problem - it may be slow due to only 2G of memory, but RH should work OK.  I have an "OLD" Toshiba laptop with a 1.9G AMD processor and 4G of memory (the max allowed) other than being slower that my desktops it has no problems.  It probably runs better because I don't have all the BS on it that is on the desktops...  2G of laptop memory is really pretty cheap to upgrade.
I keep the latest versions of RH on all my machines.

Go for it....

Re: RH on older laptop

I run it on a similar laptop at 32bit and winXPsp3 so 3gb RAM is max for me. does fine.

Solidoodle 2 with Deluxe kit cover & glass bed with heater. and 2nd board SD2 used not 3rd and alum platform not installed yet still wood. also need cooling fan installed to board. use Repetier Host couple vers. Slic3r also have all free ware STL programs

If it is 32bit system which most older ones are then 4GB is the max you can use as no more will be recognized by the system.

The issue you might have is the video card not being strong enough or supporting the correct version of openGL.
