Topic: Printer bricked and no com port detected

Hello guys,
I bought another Da Vinci from craigslist locally and the guy before me bricked the firmware it seems.
You get the lines across the front.
I shorted JP1 like it explains on the forum, I installed drivers, bosac, arduino but nothing happens when I power it up.
My other printer was a dream to setup and flash.  This one just wont give me a com port, nothing shows up in the hardware manager at all.
I even tried a couple different computers..
Im getting to the point of thinking this board needs to be replaced...  Anything you guys think I should try?
If I cant get it going im going to swap it with a ramps board im thinking; unless someone on this forum has a board that works that they would sell me that is a match.
Thanks so much for your help and happy Friday!
-Pete

Re: Printer bricked and no com port detected

Don't worry, I don't think there's a problem with the motherboard, you might not have installed the software on correctly.  I have experience installing it on my da Vinci printer. When attempting to install, make sure to follow all the steps and not to skip any. Here's a link I think you might find useful:

https://github.com/luc-github/Repetier- … /README.md

This link gives you instructions as to installing firmware called "Repetier" which I would highly recommend it.

As for going back to original XYZware firmware, to the best of my knowledge, no one has figured it out yet since it is proprietary software. And I can almost guarantee they won't send you it calling their support.

Hope the best,

When it is in  bossac mode I don't believe it shows up in the device manager. That is why you need to use bossac and the command line as windows cannot see it in that mode.

Do the reset and load it with the bin version of repetier, then you can use the arduino method once it is configured as an arduino device.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

In bossac it will show up as a com port and in the command line you will address via that com port to flash it.  I did that on another unit I ran across. This one just wont give me a port of I would already have flashed it.  maybe jtag
