Topic: Which glue? What paint?

Holy cow, I got a DaVinci jr for my birthday! Completely unexpected. I've done 3D modeling for years, but none of my meshes have ever escaped the computer.

I'm impressed with it so far. I was braced for problems, but my first real print I went from Sculptris --> Blender --> XYZ --> print without taking any particular precautions, and it came out...well, 90%. There were a few problems, mostly because I declined to print supports (I thought I had made an adequate sprue to an overhang). I'd show you, but I are an idiot and left it at work.

Anyway! What kind of glue works best on PLA? What kind of paint?

And has anybody had problems with the biodegradability of it? As in, having it biodegrade in an unwanted or untimely fashion?

Re: Which glue? What paint?

Most glues that work on plastic will work with pla.
so super glue works, epoxies I have even used wood glue and pva

it mostly depends on what you are trying to do with the glue.

I have use house paint with pla and normal acrylics without having to use a primer. that being said a primer still helps and if its going to be handled a lot I recommend a primer that is meant for plastic.

Re: Which glue? What paint?

I can't help with glue as I never had to use any, but for paints I have found the best to be
games workshop primer and then Games workshop acrylics.
I have a da Vinci Jr. and I have had great success with it, no failed prints (so far, Over 100 hours of printing). and it can do fine detail and intricate parts really well.
I would also recommend using games workshop 'ardcoat after painting other wise the paint chips off easily.
Hope this helps. smile
