Re: E3D Titan extruder

Doesn't look great around the holes.
The finish on the flat area looks ok though.
Looks like a bonding issue to me.
Do you get layer separation on the outer walls of your prints ?

When I get home I am to level the bed as ssauntson recommended, I was using Repetier Manual method. I will try the start a print, turn off the printer then level it. I have heard many people say this yet never tried it. I use ABS so I would usually just add more glue to the bed to get it to stick but always had issues with circles but the flat area and sides usually came out fine. I have never had layer separation but at one point I had gaps between infill and outline. I had found that after taking the extruder off many times at on point the belt slid out of the slots on the Y axis, once I fixed that and added a bit of lube to the X axis white pulley.

What temp are you printing the ABS at ?
I'm just wondering if it's not quite hot enough ???

Re: E3D Titan extruder

Did you just now install the v6 or was it already working and you just added the titan?

If you changed the thermistor, did you update the table in the FW to use the new values?

I had the v6 mod and just added the titan, I was under the impression the thermistor was the same as the one in the da vinci, so no, no change.

Re: E3D Titan extruder

I find I need to print ABS at 240°c with the E3D to get good bonding.
I get problems with delamination otherwise.

Ok, I will play with the temps....thanks

VERY IMPORTANT

I have ammended the install thread following some complaints. I am now very pleased that the install will be rock solid and have already demostrated this to Viperz28

it is only a subtle change but the end result is amaging.

Regards

I will be making the changes shortly, I can't wait!!

Re: E3D Titan extruder

I am onto another print, this nozzle is really low now. It hits the metal cleaner clip, it really cleans it :-)

I was unable to get good prints with .015 feeler when bed leveling, I had to revert back to paper. With the .015, I was not getting good adhesion on the first layer and it was making a mess. I switched back to a single piece of paper and now things are looking good again.

The pancake stepper motor forced me to use the medium sized screws that came with the Titan, however, the bottom left was barely catching on the threads so I put a longer screw with a spacer so I could tighten it down. I am not sure if the depth of the screw holes is shorter on the pancake compared to a larger stepper motor. I am going to look at the specs and find out.

All in all, this is working nicely. I have yet to try TPU or Ninja, that will be my next test.

Printing in TPU I had to adjust the screw to put more tension on the filament, looks nice.

This is the last ABS print

First print, still needs some tuning. There was some filament on the side of the nozzle that caught when it was doing the bigger circle.

These prints don't look normal to me, what do you guys think?

I've had that. It's the Y axis out of line.  Push it to the back then give the right hand a bit of a push to reline it.

Ninjaflex is what I'd like to see it print.
If it can push that stuff through at a decent rate, it'll deal with anything !

My cheap mod is printing flexi great. Not as nice looking as the E3D one.

What speeds are you able to print flexi at with that ?

Normal Simplify3D settings. Haven't changed a thing.
But I couldn't believe how much weight I've saved.

As you can see my Y axis was out.

Re: E3D Titan extruder

So you don't have to reduce the default print speed in the 'other' tab ?
I find I have to reduce it to about 10mm/s to print flexi with my current setup.

Nope. It was a pain setting Repetier. I had to flash as a 1.0 with the new board.
Oh that's a clone E3D and I've lowered the small board on the right now.

No. I got the motor\clone\fan\extruder from bang good.

http://www.banggood.com/JKM-42-Hybrid-S … 33548.html

I had to swop the middle wires for it to work. My thread got moved to the top of this forum. Post there
if you need the links to the parts.

Nice! I am using the pancake version (http://www.amazon.com/Short-Bipolar-Mot … ge_o04_s00) which shaves off a bunch of weight. Still testing with it.

So this is the exact stepper that you used Viper?

Also what would be a link to a "Drop-in" replacement for the standard DaVinci stepper.  I plead ignorance when it comes to steppers.  Looks like it needs to be 1 amp and step angle of 1.8, correct?

If someone has a link to the larger version that I could use it would be appreciated.  I don't mind doing some rewiring as long as I know what wires to connect to where.  smile

There is no connector on it so I rigged one up until I can get the right connector but yes, there was some discussion of it in this thread a couple of pages back.
