Topic: Da Vinci Pro: Error 0031 / Torn Belt

Was hearing a rattling noise every now and again during one of my prints. The noise bounces around in the enclosed printer so it was hard to figure out where it was coming from. I finally found out the rattle was coming from a spring in the upper right corner.. there is a housing there where there is also a little belt. I was a several hours into a print when it started making the noise and only had an hour left so I figured I would investigate further after the print had completed... never happened... all the sudden the print head lost its forward/back motion and began to print in a straight line back and forth from left to right... I cancelled the print and waited for it to return it is home position... it did not move. I rebooted the machine, ERROR 0031.
Upon inspection of the machine I can see there is a small belt near the spring in that corner that has torn.
Does anyone know the steps to disassemble and replace this belt or do I just have to wing it?

Re: Da Vinci Pro: Error 0031 / Torn Belt

Since it's a timing belt... Would these belts be sold locally at like an auto parts store or are these kind of belts specific for electronics?
I'm wondering if my only option is to purchase online or if I can go get it somewhere in town.
I also read that some people have used GT2 132 Belts as well. Wondering if that's an option.

How would you change the belt on this thing? Ive been looking for tutorials, but I can only find how to tighten a lose belt.
Im guessing that I have to remove one end of that rod holding the belt? looks like its being held in by just two screws... I guess Ill start there.

finally found a video on how to change out the Y belt... damn, you have to disassemble a lot of the machine. Doesn't look hard, just time consuming.

Re: Da Vinci Pro: Error 0031 / Torn Belt

After putting the machine back together, I turned it on and i was happy to see the extruder pulling back towards the starting position. Was happy until I realized it wasn't going to stop! The extruder pulls back and hits the back wall and attempts to keep going so I had to switch it off. Pulled it all the way forward and it does the same thing when I turn it back on. Any suggestions?

Your Y sensor Back left corner is plugged in backwards or not plugged in at all or not mounted correctly.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

I messed with the y sensor and it was fine. What I ended up having to do was give the extruder a good pull foward, I'm guessing the left and right tracks were not in sync with each other. Pulling it foward I heard a click on the right track and since then it's been fine.

So the right side was hitting the physical limit before the left side could hit the limit switch.. Typical for this machine.. Same will happen if you ever have a good jam during a Y travel.

Re: Da Vinci Pro: Error 0031 / Torn Belt

BTW, the stock belt 132 S2M was not available on amazon and although I made a support ticket, I didn't care to wait for XYZ to finally mail me a new one(it takes them a good week or two before they get approval to do so). I instead ordered a 132 2GT and opted for next day delivery. Has the same pitch and number of teeth... I think its a little wider and has a reinforced core, so it should not tear as easily as the OEM belt. It fits perfectly, without issue.

Just a little information in the event that someone needs to replace theirs.
