Topic: How to increase stepper motor current?

I have a Davinci 1.0a with Repetier 0.92 with modified hotend and drive gear running. Currently I'm printing transparent PETG! This filament will look much nicer when printed at lower temperatures but when I will go below 200°C my extruder stepper motor will not be able to generate the necessary force and I will get some "klicking noise".

Does someone of you tried to tweek the motor driver from the daVinci main board to generate higher currents to the stepper? I think I will need to exchange a resistor to make it work, would be no problem for me but need to know what part adjusts the current!

Any help is appreciated!

The da vinci uses digital control for motor current that is set in the firmware. There is no other way to do it. You will need to dig through the firmware and find where those vslues are. They will not be in thr normal tabs.

Dear Carl!

Thanks for your answer but it appears that the DaVinci main board does not have digital pots, see here: https://github.com/luc-github/Repetier- … /issues/76. I solved it by using the autospeed function in Slic3r that keeps the extruded volume constant and adjusts the speeds accordingly. By avoiding volumetric peaks I have no more clicking at low temps - works great now!
