Topic: FT Kossel 2020 Rev B Build

Been stuck in a confusing little problem, built the printer and made sure the lengths of the rods are the same and the adhesive dries. All the screws are tight and everything is wired properly. I tuned the steppers and uploaded the firmware. I checked the x, y, and z max all trigger on the proper vertical mount for each motor. Z min triggers when it is close to the bed and the max triggers are all open. Everything to this point checks out normal when triggering everything manually. Now onto RH, set up for the delta printer when i run the home command G28 the z and y run up to the end stops x runs to the middle, sometimes up or down but always to the middle of the vertical pole and stops then y and z touch the end stops again.I have also tried inverting the x dir in the firmware with no luck. Anything to get me in the right direction and printing would be amazing and appreciated.

Will provide images, video, and config file if requested.

Update - When Invert X Y Z Dir is true the hot edn moves straight down evenly, when the three are set to false everything preforms right expect the x dir.

Re: FT Kossel 2020 Rev B Build

This is from my known working firmware for my RevB FT kossel:

// The pullups are needed if you directly connect a mechanical endswitch between the signal and ground pins.
const bool X_MIN_ENDSTOP_INVERTING = false; // set to true to invert the logic of the endstop.
const bool Y_MIN_ENDSTOP_INVERTING = false; // set to true to invert the logic of the endstop.
const bool Z_MIN_ENDSTOP_INVERTING = true; // set to true to invert the logic of the endstop.
const bool X_MAX_ENDSTOP_INVERTING = true; // set to true to invert the logic of the endstop.
const bool Y_MAX_ENDSTOP_INVERTING = true; // set to true to invert the logic of the endstop.
const bool Z_MAX_ENDSTOP_INVERTING = true; // set to true to invert the logic of the endstop.
//#define DISABLE_MAX_ENDSTOPS

so, the endstop inverting should be set to true for all MAX settings.

Thats how that looks in the config file. The endstops are not the issue. The issue is direction on travel in the x axis.

Re: FT Kossel 2020 Rev B Build

oops, sorry, grabbed the wrong lines. tongue

how about this:

#define INVERT_X_DIR false    // for Mendel set to false, for Orca set to true
#define INVERT_Y_DIR false    // for Mendel set to true, for Orca set to false
#define INVERT_Z_DIR false    // for Mendel set to false, for Orca set to true
#define INVERT_E0_DIR true   // for direct drive extruder v9 set to true, for geared extruder set to false
#define INVERT_E1_DIR true   // for direct drive extruder v9 set to true, for geared extruder set to false
#define INVERT_E2_DIR true   // for direct drive extruder v9 set to true, for geared extruder set to false

// ENDSTOP SETTINGS:
// Sets direction of endstops when homing; 1=MAX, -1=MIN
#define X_HOME_DIR 1
#define Y_HOME_DIR 1
#define Z_HOME_DIR 1

Re: FT Kossel 2020 Rev B Build

The firmware code looks like that and I have changed it around to try and get the x to go the right way.  I have tried the spare stepper driver board. Not sure where to do

Re: FT Kossel 2020 Rev B Build

it appears that the one motor is running the opposite direction of the others

you can try flipping the connector for that motor at the ramps board - you wont hurt anything by doing so, just make sure you are powered down and unplug the usb as well. unplug the connector, flip it over, and plug it back in. make sure you have the correct one.

I have done this and the motor stops working.  I also tried the spare stepper driver supplied.  I also flipped the true back to false.  It runs the same direction every time no matter what changes are made.

Re: FT Kossel 2020 Rev B Build

Change that motors homing direction to -1.

Re: FT Kossel 2020 Rev B Build

Right I did that already and it doesn't change anything.  I have spent 5 days finding and changing things and nothing has changed the operation of the motor

Re: FT Kossel 2020 Rev B Build

I had similar issues. Finally got so frustrated I switched to an Azteeg Smoothie board with LCD and never looked back.

Re: FT Kossel 2020 Rev B Build

Have you tried contacting Folgertech about this? It is possible the motor itself is the problem.

Yes all day today. Their customer service is fantastic. Unfortunately I am in the mountains in the mid West so our time zones and my night shift are not the best for communication. I have run through similar troubleshooting including their firmware they are running, still the same problem. It could end up being the motor. I believe we will pick it back up today.
