Topic: Da Vinci 1.0A Repetier 0.92 and Simplify3D buffering problems?

Got what the topics says,  all working fine but its a buffering problem,   runing from PC via USB (win10).
I already changed in the Firmware configuration > Communcation to "Hardware Flow Controll RTS/CTS" and also tried changing the Serial Cache Size from 63byes to 127bytes,  tho the serial cache size keeps changing back.

I also when into device manager and changed my correct COM-port to hardware controll and bytes per second to 128000 in hope of that helping from stock settings.    I'm on the right baudrate also,  even changed from stock 230400 to 250000 in the davince-repetier settings menu and the in S3D program to try... nothing

I'm trying to print some small chess piece as the first print with Simplify3D : http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:533652

After awhile i can't buffer and just stops for some secs to buffer, then it starts stuttering like hell.

Anyone? please.    Would really like to try S3D

Otherwise everything seems to work fine,  It's printing in the middle and I even found a DaVinci FFF profile to use from another post on this forum.

When using Repetier-host and Slic3r,  no problems

I had some similar issues as you with windows 10.  I was sometimes getting extremely long pauses with the buffering.  Worked fine prior to the upgrade to 10.  My personal solution is to use a wireless SD card and save the file directly to the printer from windows.  I then print from the printer.  Works well and I don't need to keep my computer running for the print this way.

You went the wrong way on com speed. The serial to USB converter in the Da Vinci is not all that fast. I would slow down to 200000 or less. It will not affect your print speed. But should help with buffering. It actually means the data is being sent to fast for the printer to process..

I never found usb printing to be 100% reliable so I use a wireless SD card all the time now.
Never once had a print fail with it.

With octoprint on a pi the prints just keep going.  It's the blasted x and y axis shifts that are killing me.

Da Vinci 1.0a.  Repetier 0.92.  E3D V6.  Titan Extruder.  Sllic3r.  Octoprint on Raspberry Pi B+.

if you mean the baudrate,  I'v tried lower now also.  Didn't help

I do not know if anyone figured this out yet or not, but my buffering in windows 10 using s3d was fixed by turning off the usb power saving functions in the power management console. I have not had the issues since turning that off. I also turned off most other power saving settings for when I am printing.

I would rather set up a Pi with S3D on it, but it does not work yet with it. Hopefully in the future they will develop a Pi/ARM version. Not sure if the slicing would be significantly slower or not. But I would love to not have to use octoprint. Or if they would at the least create a pi controller app so that I get the control interface on a touch screen and can remotely send my models and control locally.
