Topic: Questions I have to help me fix my printer

What is the voltage on the white wires, that go to the hot end, when the hot end is heating up?

My hot end is not heating. My connection is showing good continuity, but a few days ago my printers fuse kicked the bucket. I desolderer the one ohm resistor they were using as a fuse and just bridged the gap. Now the voltage is 8 volts. Im not sure if this is normal or if my hot end has reached the end of its life span.

White Wires??  gee man color codes do not always mean a lot with 3d printers. On my new printer white is the thermistor.
What printer and control board do yo have. ??
there are two set of wires to the hot end .
Assuming you have a 12 volt system  a 40 watt heater should read  3.6 Ohms. A 20 watt heater will read 7.2 Ohms  the thermistor something over 100 K and the resistance should drop from the heat of your hand .

first of all what does the hot end read in  your host prog or LCD.  If reading zero check the thermistor connector if reading room temp(same or close to bed when turned off check the heater connection.  And remember just because the ohm readings are good does not mean the connection is good DAMHIKT. Those little inner sleeves can slip.

also never bypass a fues. they are there for a couple very good reasons like fire safety and to prevent ruining the device it serves to protect like your printer.

Solidoodle 2 with Deluxe kit cover & glass bed with heater. and 2nd board SD2 used not 3rd and alum platform not installed yet still wood. also need cooling fan installed to board. use Repetier Host couple vers. Slic3r also have all free ware STL programs
