i had tried putting the z height up high it still seemed to mess up until it got to high. i just tried  running it at 215c and it seems to be printing fine i will update wen its done

thanks

Try to clean your extruder befor printing and make the temperature not to hight!
see if your Z axis is good and try maybe to put stick on your table .... Wait and See

Hi,

I've used Hatchbox Red and BAMtack! Blue at 190C. How are you printing at 215C?

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

The below link is an instructable on how reset the tag using an Arduino and NFC Chip.

http://www.instructables.com/id/XYZ-Da- … et-Hack-1/

For anyone looking for an alternative to the Android App.

I forward you to a nicely put together piece of software to do the authentication and rewriting.  I still have personally not taken the time to figure out how to using the Arduino Sketches to rewrite the tags.  If anyone is interested in helping me put together the correct sketches and procedure using the sketches I would be happy to work with you.

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

I'm not sure if the instructables reference is in response to my question about 215C. If it is, I was asking about that temperature, since I don't think that any color has been reported to print at that temperature on the printer, so was wondering what was done to do that.

- thanks

I can confirm that arduino uno R3 with RC522 shield is also working, both reading and writing to the tag. A small change in the library was needed to be able to read all pages.

Why?  What value does it have to us?  Everyone keeps getting keys and running.  Very few are posting 3rd party filament brands that work and at what settings.  None of them have attempted to find new color temp combinations or investigated over riding the default temps.  People who get keys aren't giving back.  They aren't helping continue the hack or make it better.  They got the selfish thing they wanted cheaper filament for themselves.  They don't care about the progress of this.

you can get around the temps by using the old xyz software and use advance mode

Do you know which version of XYZware ?  I found and downloaded a version 1.1.30.16;  It did not have the Da Vinci Jr as an option at all.

Was this workaround for tethered printing, or did it also work for exporting files as well?

TIA!

For setting temps you can use Slic3r, but I haven't thermometer to proof it. Few posts above I've posted little script for preparing G-code for Da Vinci Jr. If you have time, you can try it and post back some results.

PS maybe it's necessary to push output file through XYZware via USB cable to printer. I'm using it like that for a while. smile

Thanks, Everyone!

Using the advanced mode executable:
After choosing to export, and selecting print settings with the wizard, I was able to insert a temperature change line into the gcode (via the tab_gcode _editor tab) , hit the save icon (still on the gcode tab) to create a .3w export file.

I took the exported file on SD card to the printer, and started the print.  The display showed the extruder heat up to 185c and then the print head moved to the right to lay down the cleaning strip.  Here, the printer paused, and I thought that I had damaged the export file.  After a couple of seconds wondering what to do, the printer layed down its purge strip, and began to print.

There was no way to view the temperature from the machine while it was printing, however, I was able to start and cancel a print, and the status monitor showed the extruder at 211c

I used white Hatchbox PLA, which has a recommended temperature range of 180-210c
210 may be too hot for the slow speed that I chose, and may have added  a few small strings and blobs.
My previous attempts at benchy, using the default speed and 185c temperature all had holes in the sides , and floors of the ship.

The result was the best  3dbenchy I have printed to date on my jr. smile

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

Cecil,

I finally got around to getting it to work.  My clamps didn't hold well to the proper pins, tried getting in by baring the wires and clamping there, but finally ended up soldering some leads onto the pins.  Read my PW, reset my 100m NATURE sample spool to a 300m Red Clear and printing away just fine!  I have some generic 144 stickers from eBay that I will try to program for my 5 spare spools.

Anyone know the color code for BROWN?

Thanks for your input and the help of this forum.

Next to do:  I have generic spools from eBay, but they have a wider and larger inner diameter.  The original XYZ spool is 2-1/8 wide with 2" center hole.  My generic spools are 3" wide with 2-3/8" center holes (1lb or 2.2kg by weight, unknown length).  I am trying to print the spool collar long enough for the replacement spools, but I may have to disassemble the original spool holder inside the machine and print it longer as well.  I will post results when completed with this mod.

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

I have a theory that 0E in hex or page 14 in dec is part of the temperature override for the tag.

The digits are typically always 30 to 39 in hex which when converted to ASCII are the numbers 0 through 9.  I've seen a tag with what would be 0 1 9 0.

I think it is where you could set an override of the default by color temp.

I tried a bunch of different combinations in those bytes to see if I could come up with a combo that would over ride the default without success.

I'm kinda thinking that is where the override temp is set, but some other byte or line activates or tells it to use that value.

Anyone playing around with different combinations of data to write?

I tried a bunch of different values and it would read and use the tag normally, so that is why I'm thinking something else tell it to use it.

I would think one of my values of FF FF FF FF would have given some kind of error, but I think it isn't even using it without the other byte or line telling it to.

Any thoughts?

I would think 0 1 9 0 would suggest a temp of 190 which is fairly standard for XYZ filament.

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

Are you referring to the E0 in E0930400 ? Someone else had already shown that value is for 300 meters (well, I suppose 300,000 millimeters, actually). The network-byte-order version of the little-endian E0930400 is 000493E0 which is 300000 in decimal.

Re: DaVinci Junior cartridge reset

Sorry edited the post.  I mean Page 0E in hex or page 14 in dec.

carl_m1968.  That's my point that the 0190 looks like a temp, but just changing the digits alone doesn't change the temp I think there is another page or byte that activates that is uses Page 14 (in dec) instead of the default by color temp.
