Topic: New Box for Filastruder cannot have 4th bolt!

I have successfully made the filastruder, I was busy dealing with my better half's mother breaking her tibia, so didn't get to doing it till recent!  Anyway to further explain the filastruder wood box that is now being provided with the DIY kit cannot have the 4th bolt/screw put in as it conflicts with the path of the Feed/auger Bolt/Nut!  I plan on providing photo's once I have the hopper printed!  I'm using a Mod T 3D printer as my first printer, and found that the file for the hopper had to be split in two separate files due to size being too large for the printer plate, every previous attempt to print the hopper in one file on the Mod T caused a shift of the Base plate "toothgrind"  So had to solve that issue that seemed rampant in there system first!

All 4 main bolts do fit. You need to have one of the hex flats facing up, and it helps to not tighten that bolt until you've assembled the case.

Perhaps some photos will help. smile

current Hex bolts given are not flat!

The bolts are not flat, they *have* flats - its a part of the bolt. Here's a photo:

Seems your answer does not solve the issue either way! anyway im uploading 4 images to highlight how the problem is solid, i assumed the hex bolt for the wood box was suppose to be flat based on the hex flat statement!  I even measured that hex bolt you showed, both sides and found i picked  the smaller size for inside, and one image highlights how nothing i can do can shift the wood box any direction...and course down or up conflicts with the overall box connecting!

Re: New Box for Filastruder cannot have 4th bolt!

It does fit, at least all the kits I've assembled myself. I actually just assembled one last week. The couple times I've heard something about fit problems ended up getting resolved by orienting the flat of the bolt and leaving a bit loose until the case was on. The same bolts have been used from the same batch from the same supplier since the initial release.

Here's a photo to illustrate:

It is helpful to have the silver bolt a bit loose so it can move downward a bit.

If it proving to be too difficult, you can leave the long black bolt out as it is not structural.

I can try to unscrew entirely and repeat again, well see...but already said that it doesn't lose integrity so figured wasn't big deal...printing the hopper on a Mod-T 3D printer was bigger issue than that, had to attempt to print 6 times before I solved all the issue's with the Mod-T / hopper build , they cut corners on how many poles used in the design so they have 2 poles total for two of the 3 directions!(x,y,z) and apparently if you print too large on the plate or in more than one place at a time it causes the bottom two poles to shift the plate wrong causing a grinding/sliding sound/effect that slowly prints it incorrectly/shifted, so having the two pieces in two prints rather than one resolves these issues!

well after 3 attempts i removed the dang hex bolt entirely and put in the other bolt and then put the hex bolt back in...tightest fit ever but it worked!
