Topic: My Love-Hate relationship with Da Vinci.

Ok, I'm coming up on 50 days with my 1.0A.

I thought I'd share a few thoughts about my love/hate relationship.

1.  I love my printer.  I complain a lot about it, but I love it.  It's like a second wife!
2.  I hate my printer.  It is, and slower and quite poor compared to $2500 printers.
3.  I love the price.  I got it for $375 open box, and it was essentially brand new.
4.  I hate XYZprinting customer service.  As far as I can tell, there is none.  Warranty services are a joke.
5.  I love a heated bed at this price level.
6.  I hate that they permanently adhered such cheap, easy-to-break glass to the heating bed.
7.  I love Repetier.  The nightmare of the stock firmware, carts, and software is really extraordinary.
8.  I hate the stock hotend.  The 1.0A is supposedly able to do PLA, but nope.  Nada.
9.  I love the enclosure.  It keeps my kids and dust out.
10. I hate that I am yet to print anything that is really USEFUL.  It's a wonderfully delightful toy-making machine, though.
11. I love Octoprint and the Raspberry pi.
12. I hate that I don't yet have a E3D V6.

Please feel free to add.  Have a great weekend!

Da Vinci 1.0a.  Repetier 0.92.  E3D V6.  Titan Extruder.  Sllic3r.  Octoprint on Raspberry Pi B+.

I would agree with all the above, it's a pretty decent bit of kit for the price and an excellent bit of kit with some modding.
I haven't had to use customer service. Thankfully, I've managed to solve any issues myself with some help from this and the Voltivo forum. Thank god for the community ! smile
You'll be surprised how useful it can come in. I've made a few things after learning to use a couple of modelling programs. I saved a few ££ on a propellor for an electric outboard motor and made replacement parts for stuff that would have been near impossible to come by.
Regarding the E3D upgrade, can't recommend it highly enough. Make it your next mod. wink

W/out the interweb and print community, this machine would be in my backyard for target practice.

Re: My Love-Hate relationship with Da Vinci.

I used mine to print a part to fix the shifting in my jeep. it had a plastic semi flexible part that broke and I was able to print a fix for it.

I have used it to make thing for hobbies I do such an war-game terrain models it makes great armatures to make trees with and I can make them all different sizes and shapes.

so I love that I can make a lot of stuff.  I do hate how long it takes sometimes though
