Topic: brand new heater bed cracked again

What can I do to prevent this from happening? Just replaced my heater bed as the previous one cracked in half trying to retrieve the printed object. Now once again same thing happened, print finished and the object bonded to the glass hmm I don't use any glue, but the print was however 30hrs long.

did you wait till the print completely cooled?

As asked are you waiting till the print and bed are back to room temp? You also maybe making your first layer too thin and the bond is too good. That is possible..

i use a razor blade scraper to get stuck/large prints off.  how are you pullong them off?

SD2 Sanguinololu 1.3a atmega1284p, wood platform, lawsy's carriages, braided fishing line, pallet wood overhead spool mount, carboard/magnet enclosure, glass bed, E3D v6, bed levelling knobs, extended z-stop, 25A DC-DC SSR for bed heater, everything fixed to the SD2 frame, marlin firmware with some adjustments and extra failsafes enabled.  I'll never give up on you, little printer that could(n't)!

Re: brand new heater bed cracked again

Use a Zebra Plate from Print in Z website, it is two sided bonds like crazy, and you can flex after print to help remove prints. If you bond to hard you can use sandpaper to remove easily. I have done 18 hrs without issue on this and would not go back to anything.

Also, will never crack and only way I can see it is damaged is if you dig with a razor blade.

My bed hasn't cracked but chunks flaked off and stuck to my print. Can you replace just the glass?

You put new glass over the old glass as long as the heater is still intact and working.

Re: brand new heater bed cracked again

You can remove the heater from the old glass using a heat gun and some solvent.
I removed my heater and used Goof Off Pro Strength for removing the adhesive.
I will be applying the heater to a new piece of glass this weekend with high heat adhesive spray.
To avoid having to do it again, I will be adding a second layer of glass on top which will be the actual build surface. It will be removable and swappable.
