Topic: Does banding also cause cracking? (pics included)

Hey guys, trying to figure out my SD2. My prints are warping, I know I am not special there.

My build environment is cold. 50 F ambient air. I have the case and front cover.

My *least* warped prints have been 185 C head / 80 C bed, .1mm layers, no raft, sliced with KISSlicer. I think I have finally leveled my bed, as I got the first .1mm layer to stick with those variables. Prints at 200 C / 100 C had much more warping than what is shown here, which is confusing to me.

Do you think I'm suffering from cold air, or is this a Z-axis problem? I have no problem with adding insulation or an external heat source, just want to know which path I should take.

EDIT: The crack is visible in the first attachment, about half way down... sorry about the blur, I don't have a good camera at the moment.

you should have less cracking at 200c, but maybe more warping. Try 200/100c, but with a bigger brim. Or design brace bars that has helped me before with a warp-prone piece (like what you've shown here.)

The crack is caused by cooling.  You need to enclose your build environment.  Plexiglass is the material of choice, but cardboard would work as well.

+1

warming the build environment will help.

In your case I'm sure cold air is the main factor, but banding also makes layers weaker (I had a lot of delamination before fixing my banding issue). I would try to fix both issues.
