Topic: Problems with Reprap universe scanner

Hi All

I have just built a Reprap Universe scanner which uses freelss but I'm having no end of problems with the software side of things.

I found my scans were all distorted and eventually traced this to a duff SD card, after having spent hours setting the lasers with a precision engineers square.

so I got a new card Installed the raspbian image updated it and installed and built wiringPi and freelss

but to my horror when I tried to use it I found that it seems to need an Atlas 3d serial number now else you can't change the settings.

This doesn't sound very open source to me it seems to have been taken over by a commercial interest.

Does anybody know how I can get a copy of an older version of freelss without this restriction and some advice on how to install/build it.

Regards Mark

Re: Problems with Reprap universe scanner

As I understand it, FreeLSS is indeed free.  However, there are some features (notably the on-the-fly update) that were implemented as part of the Kickstarter campaign.  As such, only the "official" Atlas kits can take advantage of the update feature.

I think the Reprap Universe scanner is a clone of the Atlas, and I don't know if the original developer (Uriah) receives anything from the RRU devices.
