Topic: Dimension correction.

I have my steps per mm set as they should be on my mini Kossel. I have GT2 with 2mm spacing, my pully is 36 tooth, my motor are 1.8 and I am using 32 microstepping. So unless my math was wrong I should be at 88.8888 steps per mm.

However when I print a 20mm cube it comes at 18.7 on the Y and 19.05 on the X. I thought I heard somebody say that either Slic3r or Repetier had a compensation setting for such issues.

I am either blind or just don't know what I am looking for.. Anyone want to point me in the right direction?

Re: Dimension correction.

i think it's slic3er... (it's a problem of gcode generator)

http://manual.slic3r.org/troubleshootin … ion-errors

bottom of the page

A new XY Size Compensation option was also introduced that allows to grow/shrink object shape in order to compensate for the measured error. Supposing your holes are smaller by 0.1mm, you can just enter -0.05 in this option to get them compensated (negative sign means shrink inwards).

Re: Dimension correction.

carl - maybe give a read through the attached calibration guide - there is a section for making dimensional accuracy changes.
Found the guide online a while back, but it has since disappeared - glad I copied it to a word document & saved it for future reference.

Thanks but I am running an Azteeg X5 with Smoothieware so it behaves a little different and the terminology for the parameters are different and hard to tell their Marlin/Repetier equivalent.

Re: Dimension correction.

ok, that does make a bit if a difference. ...

Slic3r does have a dimensional thing in the advanced tab.

I am trying that out but its not as straight forward as it looks. For example say I want 20 but print 18.8 then would expect to make that value 1.2 to compensate. But a value of 1.2 makes the Z taller and and the X an Y maybe .2 to .3 larger. So like many have said that function is buggy. Its also possible that function may not be compatible with the squirrely math the Deltas use.

Re: Dimension correction.

You can go to config/ firmware eprom  in RH and adjust your steps per MM .
But remember check a 2 " cube or sothing as well to make sure your problem is not backlash of some sort.

This is a Delta and is not affected by backlash like a Cartesian is. Also as I said it uses smoothie and the steps per mm affect height, not widths. The rod offset and radius settings affect your width on a Delta. Thats what I mean by the parameters not matching up.
