Topic: Very new to 3D printers and am worried

Hi ALL,

           I am a 62 old chap, Tom, live in Rugby UK, and, have looked at CTC printers which, still show that they only support winXP and win7, i run win10 home on my pc and laptops.

           Purchased a CTC about a year ago and found that it was terrible with wn8,1 as, it did not work at all!!!, my question may seem rather silly and simple but its an important one to me, will it work with win10 with out any problems as far as reading and registering the printer from the off set as, as i say, the other one DID NOT!!!.


            Knowing that they are clones of flashforge?!, i am wondering if the components will be less than good, and, on my last CTC, wonder if that's not a fair point, but, like most people and at my age and money position, the price compared with way many others is rather nice on the pocket and wallet lol lol, so, hope some kind person can offer some good advice and steer me to good and helpful conclusion in respect of whether to purchase one of these or not........my grateful thanks to everyone..............

They do not play well with anything but XP. Not even 7 works reliably. I bought one of the all metal dual heads when you could find them for $900 then still put another $300 to get to be an awesome printer. My signature says what was done.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

You can start by looking into two sites if you are going to build a 3D Printer yourself from scratch(www.reprap.org , and www.Arduino.cc). if you are interested in ready made,however, MakerBot have done good in some models. I'm working on an DIY 3D Printer bringing stuff together from local market. and from eBay some printed circit boards and  using open license softwares, I'm building around Arduino-MEGA2560 and RAMP v1.4 boards, using stepper motors from old printers and copiers.using bearings and rods from local market and try to put them together utilizing the knowledge from Reprap websites.wish this help.

Hi Carl,
do you want to give it a try building it DIY and know the nut and bolts of your printer and built knowledge while working and get raid of the the problematic ready made expensive 3D printers..I now tring to build my own after a lot of frastration of ready made. I'm tying to team with some one have the same goal of mine.Cheers
