Topic: The feed screw does not stick out of the barrel.

hi ,

i just bought my filastruder.I started modifying the extruder according to the manual, but before I continue I have some issues.
As you can see below, the feed screw doesn't stick out of the barrel(it should be 5mm according to manual)even though the thrust bearing is compressed..Instead of that, the feed screw is about 2-3mm inside the barrel.I wanted to ask if this is normal. If not,plz inform me what am i doing wrong.

thank you.

Re: The feed screw does not stick out of the barrel.

It looks like you've assembled correctly. This can occur as a result of how various tolerances stack up (barrel length, how much the barrel threads into the flange before tightening up, etc).

Can you pick up a deep socket like this:

at your local hardware store? I'm happy to refund accordingly. Then you can move the shaft collar back, forcing the auger out to the desired ~5mm (2-10mm is OK).

hi ,

thank you for your reply.i will find out tomorrow if i can find a deep socket in the market.now that i have to change the socket, do i have to change the distance of the collar?i mean the 84,5 mm distance has to change now according to the new parts,is that correct?

Yes, that's correct. Based on that photo, I'd try 75mm first.

If the deep socket is too deep and you can't get the thrust bearing compressed, you can use the extra spacers provided in between the chassis and motor to get extra room.

The deep socket can be 7/16" or 11mm.
