which infill is best to use. I have always used honeycomb but now Makerbot has come out with diamond.
which is supposed to be faster. But which is better.

Re: Infill question

I've pretty much moved on to Cura in the past year or so, and the only infill type options are lines, grid or concentric.  So for me, it's been grid.

When I used Slic3r, I used Honeycomb for a while, then moved to rectilinear as it was faster.

To print or, 3D print, that is the question...

...and too much time on my hands.

Re: Infill question

Honeycomb (especially at high speeds) makes the 3d printer vibrate more. Rectiliniar is what I use too (I believe I use that after this forums advice, maybe pirvan's).

Re: Infill question

Ive never had any issues with the standard grid that Cura uses by default. Around 10% - 25% works very well.

Is the Makerbot Diamond infill the same as the Cura grid infill? From what Ive seen I can't tell the difference

Re: Infill question

depend of the size of your model... small model can use rectilinear, it's the fastest..

honeycomb/ honeycomb3D (last version of slic3r) infill can help to reduce warping for big pieces with ABS

the other infills are only cosmetic but can be useful for a special effect if you print without bottom/top
