Re: Hello Im new to 3D printing

I have my old hotend lying around.
At this point I would recommend looking into an E3D v6 or Lite6. Both are superb, but they would require you to flash firmware. Many of us have done it and can walk you through the process.

PM me if you want my old assembly. I can throw in a better extruder for you as well.

Printit Mason and Printit Horizon printers
Multiple SD2s- Bulldog XL, E3D v5/v6/Lite6, Volcano, Hobb Goblin, Titan, .9 motor, Lawsy carriages, direct Y drive, fishing line...the list goes on
Filawinder and Filastruder #1870.....worth every penny!

They sell mostly Sainsmart stuff... Ramps 1.4 shields, opto and mechanical endstops, heater cartridges, as well as stepper drivers. The guy in charge of that section said they would be adding more parts later. Then of course they have my wonderful PET+ that prints like a dream and is stronger than ABS..

post a topic for a good used SD threaded tube as many members have old extruder parts laying around. dont bother with Solidoodles over priced if available parts and year long respounces and wrong parts sent.

Burton2663, do this in the Buy/Sell/Trade section, and I'm sure someone can help you fairly quickly.

FuseBox 1.5 CoreXY - e3dv6 - Graphic Smart Display
Solidoodle 2 - e3dv6 - Hobb Goblin - e3d Titan - lawsy carriages - Direct Drive Y Axis - T8 Z axis - OctoPi

Re: Hello Im new to 3D printing

A screenshot of the output enabled will help.  If that was done with no movement, it suggests you may have Bang Bang enabled in the firmware.  You should expect a nice flat line.

Re: Hello Im new to 3D printing

Bang bang is exactly what it sounds like.  It is on off instead of PWM control.
Can you post that while the printer is not in motion?  The bed output looks more like bang bang than the curves seen in your extruder.  Bang bang is adequate for a bed but not precise enough for the extruder.

Re: Hello Im new to 3D printing

Just an FYI - you said you're getting an E3D, that is definitely not an E3D hotend.

47

Re: Hello Im new to 3D printing

Yes I was also expecting E3D, but the guy who sold me this unit came and installed this hotend. That is why I came here to seek help, that guy just builds and sells stuff and Im trying to learn on my own without his support. Hoping that this printer wont be a waste of money and my time. I was already getting low hopes but I'll make this printer work.

Was already planning to resell it but how when it doesnt work at all, its been about 6 months since I bought it.  Right now its given me good prints and the only thing I need to resolve it the fluctuating temperature. Not sure if its harware or firmware issues, re-installed repetier twice, repaired the clogging, the fan holder replaced.

Re: Hello Im new to 3D printing

Get us a screenshot of the hotend section in configuration.h.  Something isn't right with that heat chart and until you get the temp line smooth and stable, you won't get the quality.
