Topic: SD4 Firmware

I'm sure this is stupid, but I'm confused.

I have an SD4 with the Atmel 1286 chip. I have no idea where to get the original or stable firmware for it. The software link at the SD site no longer works and it looks like all of the forum topics are for upgrades.

If SD2 and SD3 firmware is the same as the SD4, then I see where my confusion is.

Can anyone help get me straight?

Thanks!

Re: SD4 Firmware

Why are you attempting to change the firmware? Are you modifying your printer, having operational issues, or just exploring?
The stock SD4 is registered as Solidoodle 3 in the firmware, and has a Printrboard to be specific.

Below I will add steps for updating the firmware. Most of this is aimed for people upgrading to an E3D hotend. If you are not modding for the hotend, please disregard all lines regarding Temp sensor/thermisor and Max temp.

Re: SD4 Firmware

Azerate - thanks for the confirmation and help.

I'm planning on doing some of the upgrades other people have done, but I wanted to start off with firmware I compile to make sure I can go back to a known system if needed.

Thanks again!

No problem...hope this helps!
Just out of curiosity, what upgrades did you have in mind? I ask because you are in the presence of people who have become addicted to modding wink

Re: SD4 Firmware

I was thinking about upgrading the extruder and replacing the carriages for more bearing support. I'm sure those changes will get me in enough trouble. Can't leave above average alone.

Thanks for the help!! It compiled and loaded with  the github version. And it still works!
Now I'm comfortable with making changes.
