Topic: How to dry run 3d printer?

Hi there.
Printer works in another room and I wont to run there each time to disconnect/connect extruder's stepper motor for dry run to check if big part locates well on hotbed.
Firmware Repetier 0.91, control board Rumba, server octoprint on raspberry pi visual control with ip web cam, BUT someone have to unplug extruder from board.

Can I dry run printer with gcode?

Thank you in advance.

Re: How to dry run 3d printer?

If you are running RH Firmware, then hitting the "Dry Run" button (lower right-hand corner) on the manual control screen should work.  So far, I cannot get it to work running Marlin Firmware...

I've gotten it to work with the pages Marlin-Dev version.  Not certain that's a firmware issue though.

Maybe reach out to user grob, he seems familiar with octoprint.

Re: How to dry run 3d printer?

I haven't tried it but I'm running 1.2.7 and under settings>Features try to select the "Disable detection of external heatups." Says it works for Repetier firmware, and how I read that is that it'll disable the hotend and heated bed heat up detections and you should then be able to dry run. Someone else should definitely chime in if they know a little more.
