Topic: which printer do you recommend as a starter

I have been using a Replicator 2X for a couple years now. but I would not recommend it to someone starting out.
My grandson is wanting a printer but other than general maintenance I don't want him to have to start replacing parts out of the box like I had to. I told my grandson that their were no printers out their yet that you do not have to constantly work on.
What does the Forum recommend as a first printer.

Thanks

Believe it or not, I would recommend a PrintrBot  Simple.  For someone starting out, they work pretty much out of the box, and are very easy to fix, should something go bad.  It's also small and pretty portable.

Oh, and they're relatively cheap.

To print or, 3D print, that is the question...
SD3 printer w/too many mods,  Printrbot Simple Maker Ed.,  FormLabs Form 1+
AnyCubic Photon, Shining 3D EinScan-S & Atlas 3D scanners...
...and too much time on my hands.

why would we not believe it . they are solid machines.
A buddy of mine built on with his grandson from a kit.
The other low end popular machine is the prusa I3 but lots of room for upgrade.

are you printing PLA. Is it easier to work with than ABS.
On my 2X I use ABS & Hips. have to have a heated bed and be enclosed.
