Topic: Ceramic heater replacement? (Prints blobbing etc)

I'm getting blobs in my prints which in turn dry and cause build up. Eventually my extruder knocks my print of the bed. Also angles etc aren't smooth, They're all over the place. Lines aren't neat etc. Inspecting my extruder while cleaning it. The glue doesn't appear to be holding my heater in place. Its gone soft and there's non immediately around the nozzle. I'm wondering if this is causing a contact problem and messing with my temps? Any idea on what to use to re secure it or what to replace it with?

On a Da Vinci there is no glue that holds the cartridge in, it is held in a by a set screw and should be just about the same size as the bore in the heat block that it fits in.Also what do you mean glue around the nozzle? On a Da Vinci the nozzle and heat block are all one piece and made of solid brass. It should look like clean bare brass with exception of burned on filament.

The blobs could be due to moisture in your filament.
Try drying it out in an airing cupboard overnight.

Re: Ceramic heater replacement? (Prints blobbing etc)

I got mixed up. It was the glue on top of the filament nozzle holding the thin wires in place. Not the ceramic heater. Not sure what those wires do. Tried my natural pla and still issues. First layer nothing comes out or dribs and drabs. Just put da vinci filament in an appears to be more neat on the first layer. If it prints ok I'll try a 3rd party abs incase there's an issue with the pla. (it's the 1.1 plus which supports pla)

PLA support with XYZ printers means ONLY their brand. They use specially formulated filaments that print at a lower temp than third party stuff does.. Without mods it is doubtful your printer will print PLA other than their brand.
