Looks like they might have done just enough to print aftermarket PLA without much issue. Besides the x-axis wiring (took them long enough to fix), the bed, and the hotend it looks identical to a 1.0. I would have expected more for the $200 price jump
They also added printing via Wi-Fi and the future add on of a optional laser engraver. I agree that doesn't seem to justify the $200 increase. Luckily I bought mine during the pre-order for $549. Just $50 more than I paid for my 1.0A.
A laser engraver can be added to any printer. You just need to buy and install the laser and power supply and optical cable if the laser is too large to mount directly to the X carriage. Then just make single layer STL files.
So the main difference in the extruder is a 2nd heatsink along the metal block.

They also added a duct around the fan the fan to focus the air towards the middle of the extruder...

Nothing, and you could make much better for the difference in price (e3D with $140 left over). To be fair they did seem to address most of the major issues (print bed cracking, x-axis wiring, hotend feed neck, heater disconnect, etc.), but IMO those should have been address in the next version of the 1.0 at $499 rather than fixing their own poor engineering only if you pay $200 more.
I also think that they should have put these changes in a newer version of the 1.0 and kept the same price. Although a little bit higher could be justified with the addition of the Wi-Fi connectivity. For me, I only paid $50 more than my original 1.0A, so it's not so bad. This now frees me up to start modding my original. I already have repetier on it with an octoprint front end but would love to add an E3D and maybe a Bowden tube. I just not sure if I want to go with the E3D lite or the v6.

WIFI might be nice, but IIRC somebody already made the mod for 1.0's to add it. At $549 I think it's fair, at $699 they are just being unrealistic. Maybe if it came with the engraver it would justify the extra cost, but it will be an add on. I personally went with the v6 just for the shear fact that the difference was only $30 and even though I will likely never print at 270*C+, I figured I might as well go for the one better of the two for such a small price jump.
You can easily add wifi to a 1.0 with a Toshiba Flash Air sd card.
Been thinking of fitting an E3D myself, probably the Lite as I don't see me using the higher printing temps either.
A modded 1.0 prints PLA pretty well but there's always the odd model it struggles with.

To be completely honest I still haven't been able to print more than 1 model in pla even with my e3D. I think it's my filament though (makergeeks pla), worked fine for my first print but now jams like crazy. So it might not be as much your setup as it is the filament

Eh, I'm not too worried about it. I haven't gotten the time to mess around with it too much just yet. The filament has a rating of 230*C but I've tried everything from 180-255 with no luck. I think it's just the filament (they tried to make the PLA print at the same temp as ABS), I'll probably just order some regular stuff and see
It can happen, I have two rolls of Shaxon PLA from Fry's. One is bright green the other oink and neither will print without jamming or just barely feeding.. This has happened on more than one printer.. So I gave up on those rolls.
You can change it so the LEDs stay on by going to the the energy save menu on the LCD panel and changing it to off. There are three settings, 3m, 6m and off.
I downloaded a new version of the pro software and it added alot more of the functionality i was expecting.
So far i am struggling with warping. I am running with the default heat settings, using blue tape on the print bed and the ABS that came with it. I am getting quite a bit of warping at the corners of objects.
ABS is notorius for warping due to it shrinking when cooling.
I generally don't use it for prints which cover a large area of the print bed and use PLA instead which adheres much better.

Use blue painters tape for PLA, Use kapton tape and heat the bed for ABS. Otherwise the ABS won't adhere to the bed and will do exactly what you are saying

They make cables that plug into a micro sd slot and open to a regular sdcard slot. Never say never till you prove it.

I got my pro on 11/18 I have about 9 prints into it with 26 hours and all has been ok until now. ran in circles trying to calibrate the bed thinking that was my problem after 7 calibration failed attempts. but that's not it... my nozzle is touching my prints now started half way threw my print last night and I have not been able to correct it. any one have and ideas? and it seems like there is to much abs coming out the nozzle it tends to build n blob up but I'm not sure if that's from the nozzle dragging threw the previous layer...

Use the manual calibration method in the stickies. 
Hi, I'm new to the Forum and new to 3D printing. Just got my da Vinci 1.0 Pro yesterday.
Today I unboxed it, set it up, leveled the table, printed the demo key fob, all is well so far. Now printing an item I made in DesignCAD 3D Max.
So I wanted to set up the printer's Wifi and following the instructions in the Quick Guide, connected via the USB port to my Macbook, clicking on the Printer Monitoring icon brings up a window but the next step is to click on "My Printer" in that window but there is no "My Printer" anywhere in that window.
Anyone know how to set up the Wifi using a Macbook or if it's even possible?
And once in the setup does it show the MAC Address? Need that to set my Access Point to allow it to connect.

you will need to use the cable for the first setup seeing at house the setup is done threw XYZwear. after the setup u can remove the cable and print via wifi
please let me know how your prints turn out after you hit 30hrs cause mine has been very disappointing....
