Where did you get that info? Did you just assume the 10 weeks from order date? If that's what you did mine would be around mid March.

Most likely it will be going out in early March. This is a pessimistic date, and it could possibly go out a bit sooner than that.

I ordered mine a couple weeks after you and never got that message, I have checked my spam folder also. As long as it shows mid March or earlier ill be happy. Oh and if coarse works.
Everytime you make a thread like this I just reminisce about not upgrading and actually having my printer already. I just hope they truly work the bugs out for all you sd3 buyers. My curiosity surrounds how well it works with the large print bed and if warping will be a big problem
It will be very bad if they don't redesign the whole z-axis and bed heater system...my guess is they won't and that will be up to hardware hackers to make it acceptable for daily usage.

There is in fact a new heating system, which you may have noticed on some of the late model S2s. We have switched to heating pad rather than the somewhat buggy resistor of yore. These are a bit more reliable, and have been successfully scaled up for the S3.

The Solidoodle is improved by an enclosure, but does not necessarily *need* one. It runs just fine in the state it will be shipping.

If SD makes a change to a machine can you guys please start noting the serial numbers the changes were made on (and publish them). You guys make so many changes people are probably not sure if they have an SD2 v1 or an SD2 v2..etc, etc, etc. This would be very helpful for an owner to know if they have to make repairs, mods, etc...

Ah yes that would have be wise to implement. Perhaps you'll see a version system like that in the future.
That would be smart especially if some replacement parts end up being compatible with particular versions of the printer.
Lets just hope SD kept track of what machine got what...

That may be true, but that statement goes against all conventional wisdom on this site.

Please show us a print larger than 4x4x4 that has no warping or cracking, without an enclosure.
If that is not possible, then the advertised 6x6x6 build volume is not usable.
Or they could come up with an official PLA profile. Makerbots answer to that problem was to simply say that the Replicator 2 didn't support ABS so they wouldn't have to deal with everyone trying to make an ABS print the size of a load of bread and failing.
I printed 8 items on the bed yesterday, which pretty much used up about 95 percent of the bed, so it must be usable, I also recently printed a 7x1.5x2.85 inch part which turned out very well
Half of the problem with ABS is designing the part to 'work' within the materials limitations. All of the printing on this SD2 has been done without an enclosure but I intend on trying something out just to see what the effects are good or bad.

he new replicator x2 with enclosure can use abs.. so now it's not a good answer anymore....
But the x stands for experimental, so they have already washed their hands of any dramas by marketing it this way.

In the beginning I was printing everything without the case on because it was a hassle, I just designed my parts with extra brims or strategically placed hollows etc to try to eliminate warping. Once winter hit I started putting the case on, and my need for brims and modelling tricks all but disappeared. It really makes a significant difference to have the build environment heated. Even if it's just cardboard taped over the openings.

Your results go a long way at demonstrating it to be a near requirement. My printer is due to arrive soon (I hope!) and clearly, an enclosure is number 1 addition for me to improve my chances of success. Thanks for sharing.
