Topic: Big prints always come off bed or out of line near end

Is this due to me using PLA? I don't mind using abs if need be. I always notice pla comes away from my heat bed quie easy where as sometimes abs takes some persuasion. However I've being trying to get the PLA settings down. Small to medium prints are fine. But anything over about 4 inches in height (length doesn't seem to matter but haven't tried many files due to time to print) always becomes unstuck. Most recently I tried a print and noticed the bed shaking quite bad when extruder doing infill so I've lowered my infil speed to 45 to test it.

Any other ideas?

Try PLA on room temp blue painters tape. Just put the tape on your bed and dont heat it. Makerbots do it this way exclusively.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Strange, I always find the opposite and tend to use PLA for larger prints.
Maybe need to raise the bed slightly to get better adhesion on the first layer.

Re: Big prints always come off bed or out of line near end

Thanks for the replies. Going to try the heat (Only had it on 45 and read that mid 60s is better). It usually sticks at the beginning but I come to the print later to find it moved. One thing I've noticed. There seems to be bad vibration when the machine moves in a certain direction. It doesn't affect the print (until it comes off near the end) but wasn't sure if that might be an issue.

Edit: reading everywhere that 60+ is needed on bed. No idea where/why I got 40

I use 60° as a minimum and a bit higher depending on the size of the print.
I would check the gap between the nozzle and the bed too. You want the first layer to be squished flat into the bed for good adhesion.

Re: Big prints always come off bed or out of line near end

I've re levelled the bed. Last print went fine.  Although it was through the middle of the bed. Previous failed print was a diagonal that went to the back corners. Trying a reprint with the new settings. Although still experiencing bad vibrations from the extruder which shakes the whole printer which has me concerned. Not sure what's causing it. Bed is solid but vibrates with the rest of the machine.
