Topic: Da vinci 1.1 Plus please help with supports

The software I don't mind at all. Haven't used a cartridge resetter yet. However I don't have my printer plugged in to my computer. I Only print through usb stick so it doesn't update.

The support system is awful. More then doubles my filament and supports the whole print rather then just 45 degree angles. Any way around this?

I've tried using the open mod then import and save the g code as 3w. But printer then says something along the lines of 'File not compatible with this printer' right before it starts to print. After processing progress bar.

Is there any war around this? Or a software like simplify3d but can save an stl with the supports?

Any help appreciated, more then pleased with quality but cant be using full spools for one or two prints at 12 hours each when they only take 3 or 4 hours without.

Try Craftware. It is free and has just about the same bells and whistles as Simplify3d.. It may have a little of a learning curve though..

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Does craftware  are enable me to add supports to 45 degrees and save the Stl?  Or does it work with standard 1.1 plus da vinci firmware? Strange how all these software options don't allow you to modify the Stl with their support option.  Im surprised...

Craftware is like Repetier, it is a host and slicer. So once you slice you can export the gcode to a file or send it to the printer.. However it won't connect to a stock Da Vinci.. You would need it flashed to Repetier as a stock Da Vinci uses a unique communication protocol that only a few programs support.

Wasn't willing to flash software especially without seeing anyone do it with 1.1 plus. Managed to download a slic3r config that conforms to what the da vinci expects in its file. Although the automatic .bat program to convert the code to .3w didn't work, I just opened the g-code with open mod and saved which solved it. Now printing supports without wasting material! and realistic print times
