Topic: Repetier Host/Cura- Aw come on !

Now what ?

I heard the printer stop for a second.
Communication baud rate ? cache ?
EEprom - 128000 baudrate, repetier settings 128000, Com 6- 128000

They may be too fast. I use 115200 myself. Did you change the size of your buffer? Does it do the same printing from SDcard? You should try the card to isolate communication problems.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

My RAMPS won't even connect at less that 250,000 Kbps.

To print or, 3D print, that is the question...

Might be something wrong with your ramps then, because on an old machine I had that used a gen 6 board and Marlin firmware it would run at 97600.

I know when I first put Repetier on my stock Da Vinci I had to slow the com port way down. I found there was an issue where the buffer would acknowledged that it was full. So instead of the stream waiting it would just keep sending to the printer till it was done. That took anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour depending on the print complexity. During this time however the printer was only printing what was in the buffer. Once that ran out if it would just stop since the stream had stopped as well. The fix was to slow the stream so much that the printer could keep up and the buffer was never full.

Of course that may be fixed now and this could be an entire new problem.

probably a clone FTDI chip in there, where did you get it?

however, if your firmware has the baudrate defined at 250,000, this behavior is expected. you can't mix and match them. I also use 250,000. the faster the better.

To OP: I don't think baudrate has anything to do with what you're experiencing here, though. Looks to me like your Z axis has some problems that need addressing.

Re: Repetier Host/Cura- Aw come on !

Mine has a genuine Arduino Mega 2560 under the RAMPS, so there's no FTDI chip, there's an ATMEL Serial>USB controller.

Update:
Just checkd my config.h and it is indeed set to 250000

// This determines the communication speed of the printer
#define BAUDRATE 250000
//#define BAUDRATE 115200

Change everything to 115200. No SD card. USB.
Also changed in Advanced>Com Hardware properties , Transmit buffer-4
Ckd in advanced properties is FIFO buffers, dont know what that is. Repetier docs mention FTDI.
Havnt printed yet.

Also, what another strange thing w/ Cura slicer, abs prints show twice the print time than PLA. Same speed, etc.

Still doing it.  About at the same level w/ different prints.

Do you think the bed platform is sticking ?

I dont know.

Re: Repetier Host/Cura- Aw come on !

Printed a part much slower and the ring is gone. From 40mm/s>28mm/s
So, that would indicate mechanical issues, not software.

The front top adjustable belt tensioner rod has cracked bearing holders. The bearings move about .
Next, If I grab the extruder motor, wiggle left to right there is some slight movement.

I hate it when people post a problem and you never know what they did to correct.

Wired brushed clean the threaded Z rod.

Fussy little machine.

Problem solved.
