Topic: New in Austin

Hey all,

I'm just a hobbyist at the moment, but I've got a Ultimaker2Extended coming in the mail.  I was looking for better sources of filament than just buying it online, and I found this place.   Expect questions.

If you have a Microcenter around you, their house brand called Inland is good and only 20 Bucks a roll. They also have Madesolid PET+ which prints like a dream and is claimed to be stronger than ABS or PLA. It is expensive though at 25 bucks for a 600g roll which is half of what you normally get on a roll.

Oh and Welcome!

Printing since 2009 and still love it!
Anycubic 4MAX best $225 ever invested.
Voxelabs Proxima SLA. 6 inch 2k Mono LCD.
Anycubic Predator, massive Delta machine. 450 x 370 print envelope.

welcome!  just remember if you like to tinker these are amazing machines, and once in a while step back and take a break....

Quite a Hefty machine!  ill second the 2 guys above me, Microcenter, Inland is the Brand.  Hatchbox is great(online)  and i have just run through some Alchement, which i had good luck with (based on other reviews) seems like it might be one of the boxes of chocolates....

Welcome, fellow Austinite!

I only wish we had a Microcenter somewhere closer than Houston!

I end up buying my filament online from "IC3D".  It Just Works.  If I had a local supplier for that, and other 3d printing bits and bobs, I'd have no legitimate reason to shop online!

There is a Frys on Mopac Expressway and they sell filament as well. Their house brand called Shaxon is ok as long as you stay away from the fluorescent colors. They also have a few other brands as well.

I've been eyeing their filament somewhat warily.  I've never had great luck buying anything of value at Fry's.  I might have to try a roll, just once, to see...

I have had good results with their natural, red, and black.. Do not use the bright green, or pink if you value your hair..

Microcenter's Inland brand can be purchased online - you do not have to go to a physical store to get it. Shipping cost is very reasonable and usually within 5 days of ordering. If i order on a Sunday, I usually have it by Thursday or Friday of that week.
