Topic: N-Train

Just joined the forum, and already found a few useful bits.

I am N-Train, and I design, and sell, N Gauge 1:148 model railway kits. I do my design work in Rhino 3D and currently get my 3D printing done through agencies.

However, I have just ordered a CT'c 3D printer, off eBay, which is due to be delivered at any time. I am looking at using this for development work, so I can cut down on the 2+ weeks turn round on agencies, only to find, I have made a mistake and have to do it all again.

Completely foxed by the idea of dual extruders and how you tell the machine which to use, but I hope the documentation will give some clues. Though, I am not holding my breath, and expecting some very strange English...............

Expecting lots of fun with overhangs etc

Welcome to the forum.
Lots of helpful folk here.
As someone who has lots of conversation over the pond via the net you may get some strange  English from Me as well  LOL.
Congrats and good luck with the new machine.

Re: N-Train

Here is a good basic primer on preparing dual-material files for G-code generation in Slic3r:

Go to around the 7:40 mark...the file prep starts there.

Re: N-Train

UK N Gauge is 1:148 and Japanese is 1:150, Europe and America are 1:160.

They all have common 9mm gauge track.

Re: N-Train

Silly question time. I am using Makerware and it needs to know which machine I am using. Funnily enough, the CTC is not listed. Which Makerbot is the correct one to select.

Re: N-Train

Just the standard Makerbot Dual.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!
Anycubic 4MAX best $225 ever invested.
Voxelabs Proxima SLA. 6 inch 2k Mono LCD.
Anycubic Predator, massive Delta machine. 450 x 370 print envelope.

Re: N-Train

I was settling on that, as the most likely option. Nice to have confirmation.
