Topic: DaVinci will not startup beeps and blinks

I am new to this forum, but it looks like the right place to help me out.

I was in the middle of a print the other day and I saw the extruder lost power to the heater. I powered down and restarted, but I could not get the extruder to heat up. At some point during this troubleshooting process, screen went blank (just two faint black lines display), the leds started flashing, and the controller started beeping. Now on power up, that is all it will do.

XYZPrinting is of not help, since I bought the printer second hand.

Any ideas?

Well the initial problem may be from a shorted wire.

the black bars and beeping may mean your firmware is erased.

I would go through and replace the wiring and then try flashing it to repetier

Sounds to me like you caused a short that blew the current limiting resistors on the 12 volt input. This is common with this printer. They will need to be measured to confirm if they are still near zero ohms but no more than ten. If they are more or open then they will need to be replaced.

Is this the resistor you are referring to?

I do not see a value on it like a typical resistor. What do I replace it with?

It should be a zero ohm resistor of the same physical size. Or some others have used wires and a fuse holder and put an actual fuse of around 7 amps in it's place. just to make things easier next time.

Carl,  Many thanks for your help. I'll give it a try.

QUick question on testing the "fix"  Can this be tested with the board out of the printer?  Or, will it only stop beeping after EVERYTHING is connected back up to the board?   i.e. - Can I just plug the power back onto it and see if if stops beeping?

I am not sure if it needs to see the heaters and thermistors for full boot. So I can't say for sure.

Just to be clear.  I did identify the correct resistors, RV5 for 12v and RV4 for the 5v?

These appear to be basically direct shorts to ground.

The RV3 resistor for 3.3v appear to be ok. It reads 0ohms.
