Topic: DaVinci Jr - circles won't print accurately

Hi all,

I'm having real trouble getting my DaVinci Jr to print with accuracy. Objects that are supposed to print as moving parts end up fused together no matter how much force I use to try and free them up (even parts that I've seen someone on YouTube print with no issues). I also noticed that circles don't come out as completely round (flattened edges) and I'm now wondering if there is some problem with print accuracy. After going backwards and forwards with XYZ Support, they concluded that "the printer may be somewhat limited in the circle making abilities from a precision standpoint since our printers are intended to be a entry level printer"

Since this is a DaVinci Jr, there is nothing that I can adjust on the Y axis since it is just the moving print bed. The X axis belt seems tight so I'm not sure what else I could adjust there. I've attached a photo of some "circles" that I printed so you can judge for yourself.

So basically my question is am I expecting too much from this printer or is there something wrong? Any ideas?

Thanks

There are many things that cause bad circles on a 1.0 but all of them are fixable.
I don't have any experience with a Jr but surely it must be possible to fine tune it for good circles ??
Surely xyz haven't stuffed up THAT badly with this printer even if it is the cheaper model ??

Re: DaVinci Jr - circles won't print accurately

Well by removing the print bed and the cover underneath it I found another belt. Tightening that seems to have helped a bit with the accuracy but everything else seems to have deteriorated. The drive gear makes a grinding/creaking noise whenever it isn't clicking, and the extruder head leaks filament all the time when it is hot even on a brand new reel. I can't even get the sample print to print correctly any more so I think I'm going to have to push XYZ for a repair.

Good luck mate. I had a nightmare just getting a spare bed sent out. That was after multiple tickets and sending pictures to them. My 1.0a was terrible from the factory took me a lot of reading and messing to get decent prints. Just got another, not taken it out the box yet but I'm already going to gut it and fit a E3d hot end and a load of other parts. That's after I flash it with decent firmware.
