Topic: Did I do something wrong?
Hey guys this is the first time this has happened to me. I am trying to print this. I went to slice and it looks like a block instead of the way it should. Is there a way to fix this before I print?

Run it through netfabb or the Microsoft repair service to correct slicer issues.
https://modelrepair.azurewebsites.net/
http://www.netfabb.com/basic.php
do i do that first then slice in xyz or slice then use it?

the repair service will repair the STL file. Then you slice the STL that was fixed, and all should be good.
yeah if repaired. I got lots that they cant repair lol
That looks a lot like the advanced Tie Fighter from Thingiverse.
I printed one myself this week, if you're still having trouble I can send you the gcode sliced with Simplify3d.
It came out perfect with that.
I used netfab and it worked. Thanks guys. I think I'm going to use this from now on.
Autodesk bought netfabb, just hope it remains free..

It likely will, Autodesk is one of the least greedy tech companies (IMO anyway, free software to all students while solidworks charges $150/year for one softwate). As well as the various other free services it already offers, more likely they bought it to build the algorithm into their CAD softwares so you won't have to upload files (hopefully)
yah you can use fusion 360 as a hobbyist/startup for free. a(well as long as you don't make more then $1000.00 if you make more then you need to buy the software)
tinker cad is free
123d cad is free
I think they want to have people use there software and then when it comes time to use it for work what will you want to use.
Then companies buy their software.
