I was wondering if my 1.0A has some different hardware head structure that one of 1.0. If so maybe I haven't to do any changes to print with third parties PLA like those made by scobo (sinks and fan shift).
Here a pic of my 1.0A head with a view of the fan position/orientation. Is this the same as for 1.0?
its the hotend(the brass part on the bottom) that is the give away as far as i know. From what i can see there it looks identical to my 1.0a which still had the same hotend as the 1.0. I modded mine with a heatsink i made and relocated the fan and it works very well.
Struggling to make shit work in its stock form on the davinci is like banging your head against a wall. Just do the mod, put on repetier, tighten up all the axis and anything else loose and have a decent printer for cheap. Otherwise you can continue the struggle, thats fine aswell.
This one in the picture is my 1.0A. I wanted a confirmation that this is the same structure of all the 1.0/1.0A (I was wondering if that fan inclination in my printer was a novelty that did unnecessary that hardware mod of adding a heatsink and the fan shift to print with PLA of third parties).
But... ok, it seems that I have to do the mod.

The fan and mounting looks exactly the same as the 1.0.
As I've mentioned in other threads, I removed the metal mount and replaced the fan so it blows directly across the feedtube and heatsink.

How did you attached the fan? With glue?
I did yesterday a little mod having in mind your changes. Since I hadn't any heatsinks and I wasn't sure about the way to attach the fan to the structure after its shift, I did a quick experimental approach in which I used aluminium tape to coat the lateral gaps (so that I hope the air flow is likely forced to contact the feedtube and the base metal block and the existing heatsink) and stuck two aluminium tape pieces folded as homemade heatsinks where you stuck your real heatsinks.
Do you think there is any possibility that this improvised mod works? How to test this works? (It seems that Da Vinci 1.0a can print with PLA, but with some issues if the PLA is different from the XYZ one when large prints, how would you test that the mod is good? I don't like the idea of build a lot of large prints to check that it runs)

I tried taping up the gaps at the side of the extruder but didn't have much success with that.
Generally speaking, if you can get it to print PLA for more than a couple of minutes, you should be good for longer prints. But I guess the only way to know for sure is to try one.
Getting the right temperature is also crucial. I spent a lot of time trying out different temps till I hit on one that was reliable for each type of filament.
For wood based filament (Woodfill, Timberfill etc) I use 185°C, for everything else I use 225°C.

No problem at all.
for mine i just moved the fan down and ran a bead of hot glue along the top of the fan. I also have mine blowing out not in as i had better results.

Did you do this removing the metal bracket in which the fan is screwed?
