Topic: Time to replace my nozzle

Well I've had my .4mm ed3 nozzle for over a year, and it's pretty beat up! I decided to replace the nozzle the heater block & heat break, Also I used a pre-assembled thermistor. Why all the work? well last time I tried separating the nozzle from the heat break I ended up stripping the threads and I ended up with a leaky (aka crappy) nozzle. total cost about $56.00 us. more than worth it given it's the only maintenance I've done in a year. Sorry no images, but I'm getting .05mm resolution from the SD4.

Re: Time to replace my nozzle

Well, here's how you do it without breaking anything, for future reference:

1. Heat up to 280 (start at 250 and work up in 10c increments)
2. Put on some welder's gloves
3. Grab a 7mm socket
4. Hold heater block with your gloved left hand, loosen with the right hand and socket
5. After you remove the old nozzle, insert the new nozzle while still heated. It's easiest to start threading it by hand, but it will get hot quickly and you will have to finish the job with the socket.

Why not look into an E3D Lite6? They're only about $35.

Re: Time to replace my nozzle

If you destroy the heatbreak on a Lite6 you will have to buy an entirely new heatsink as they are not separate pieces.

That being said I did a review of the Lite6 a while back and it is great.

Re: Time to replace my nozzle

Thanks for the suggestions I'll try the nozzle release next time, BTW I really like the E3DV6, and I regularly run Nylon so the Lite6 isn't an option.
